About 480 motorbikes have been impounded in a special operation by the Accra Regional Police Command in Accra.
Areas covered during the operation included Tesano, Madina, Kwabenya, Kpeshie, Korle-Bu, Dansoman and Accra Central.
The others were Nima, Mamprobi, Lakeside, Oyibi, Weija, and Amanfrom.
The Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Efia Tenge, who briefed the media, said the operation was conducted to restore sanity on the roads.
She said those arrested were riding without licence, helmet, riding unregistered motorbikes and using fake number plates among other offences.
“At Tesano, 28 motorbikes were seized, Madina, 40, Kwabenya, 16, Kpeshie, 20, and Korle-Bu 35, Accra Central, 84, Dansoman, 62, Nima, 60, Mamprobi, 38, Lakeside, 15, Oyibi, 20, and Weija and Amanfrom 62.”
The arrested riders, she added, would be processed to appear in court.
