Police Kill 3 Robbers, Seize Guns, Wee

THREE SUSPECTED robbers have been shot dead and one other has been nabbed, following a fierce gun battle between the bandits and the security agents.

The gun battle, which could be likened to a scene in an action-packed movie, happened at Buokrom Estate, a suburb of Kumasi on November 4, 2021.

The robbers, who were in a car on their way to Buokrom Estate to rob a certain rich man, without provocation, tried to open fire on the police, who were doing snap checks.

The police, who were also heavily armed, having gotten prior intelligence that some robbers had planned to strike in the area that evening, returned fire and killed three of the hoodlums.

A press release, authored by ACP Kwesi Ofori, Director General, Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, confirmed the report and hailed the police for a good job done.

According to him, police intelligence revealed that some robbers had planned to attack a certain businessman at Buokrom Estate that very day.

Having gotten such a vital information, the Ashanti Regional Anti-Robbery Taskforce personnel mounted search and screening operation of cars entering Buokrom Estate.

“During the search, the four suspects who were in a car, attempted to fire at the personnel who were undertaking the operation,” he said, forcing the police to fire back.

He disclosed that three of the hoodlums sustained gunshot wounds and they were rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where they died later on.

ACP Ofori said one suspect, connected to the robbery, was nabbed at the scene, adding “police recovered from the vehicle of the suspects, a pump action gun, one revolver pistol, one locally manufactured pistol, one dagger, two black hoods, two pair of scissors and quantities of dried leaves, suspected to be Cannabis.”

ACP Ofori lauded the Ashanti Regional Command for their hard work, adding that those that provided information, leading to the foiling of the robbery, also deserve praises.
