Police Kill Robber, Trail Limping Accomplice

The Police in Tema last Monday shot dead a suspected armed robber and mounted a search for his wounded accomplice now limping on one leg after being shot.

A narration from the Public Affairs Department of the Police has it that in responding to a distress call, a Tema Golf Course motorbike patrol team pursued two suspects on a motorbike.

The motorbike had its registration number covered with a black polythene bag. The riders, according to the police narration, engaged the patrol team in a gun battle which claimed the life of one of the suspects.

The surviving accomplice managed to flee, limping on one leg but being hunted by the police.

A Samsung A12 mobile phone, a Nokia keypad phone, GH¢10.00 and one black 9mm pistol were found on the deceased during a search after the shootout.

Victims later identified at the crime scene their stolen items. Following the development, the Tema Regional Crime Scene Team has examined and processed the scene for investigation to commence, according to the police statement.

The body of the deceased has meanwhile been deposited at the Tema General Hospital for identification and autopsy.

The Police Administration while lauding the two-man patrol team for their bravery in pursuing the robbers has assured the public of their commitment to pursue criminals with all available resources to rid the communities of crime.

The fresh strategies by the Police Administration in combating armed robberies which rocked the country a few months ago have yielded dividends with violent crimes largely abated.
