Police Motorbikes In BA Broken Down

The broken-down police motorbikes

The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Command has no functioning motorbikes. As a result, escort duties requiring the use of motorbikes cannot be undertaken by personnel in-charge of such tasks.

According to the officer in-charge of the unit responsible for such assignments, Chief Superintendent Eric Martey, six of the white Honda dispatch motorcycles have been abandoned at the regional headquarters.

The 7th one, which is used to escort very important personalities (VIPs) when they visit the region, is also not in good condition  as it suffers frequent breakdowns and therefore unreliable for such duties.

Chief Superintendent Eric Martey attributed the situation to the absence of a functioning mechanical workshop in the region.

The motorbike he referred to in an earlier comment, according to him, was brought from the Flagstaff House and is ridden by only one person and that when he gets tired there is nobody to take over from him. Although there are three riders, he said no motorbikes are available for them to use.
