Police Officer Pushes Community Development

DSP Bright Acheampong

The Ashanti South Regional Police Staff Officer, DSP Bright Acheampong, has called on individuals and organisations to take greater responsibility for the development of their communities by supporting projects that improve the lives of citizens.

He said the government alone could not meet all the country’s developmental needs, stressing the need for citizens, corporate bodies, philanthropists and other stakeholders to complement government efforts.

DSP Acheampong made the call when the DAILY GUIDE paid a courtesy call on him to acknowledge his contributions towards the development of infrastructure and welfare within the Ghana Police Service.

He said national development required a collective effort, urging Ghanaians to use their resources, skills, influence and platforms to support initiatives that served the public interest.

According to him, communities would develop faster when citizens take an active interest in addressing challenges around them rather than leaving the responsibility entirely to the government.

Police Infrastructure

DSP Acheampong highlighted several projects he had supported within the Ghana Police Service, particularly at the Patase Police Depot in Kumasi.

He cited the construction of a classroom block at the depot, named after former Inspector-General of Police, ACP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, as one of his major contributions.

He also mentioned the construction of the main entrance and exit gates, as well as a Police Learning Centre, as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and training facilities at the depot.

He further disclosed that he had provided chairs and a poly tank for the facility, to improve the working conditions and welfare of personnel.

DSP Acheampong said, together with the Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, he had initiated and facilitated the construction of a tailoring shop at the Amangoase Police Station.

The facility, he explained, would provide tailoring services for police personnel from at least six district commands.

He also cited the construction of a conference room for the Ashanti South Regional Police Command as another initiative aimed at improving the working environment and operational facilities of the Service.

Call To Service

DSP Acheampong urged Ghanaians to identify genuine developmental needs within their communities and contribute according to their means.

He stressed that individual contributions, regardless of their size, could collectively make a significant and lasting impact when channelled towards worthwhile causes.

He encouraged corporate organisations, philanthropists, institutions and individuals to support projects in education, community development, public service and other areas that promoted the wellbeing of society.

The police officer said a culture of giving would not only help address immediate developmental challenges but also create a positive legacy for future generations.

He also urged the media to continue highlighting development-oriented initiatives and use their platforms to inspire citizens to contribute meaningfully to national development.

DSP Acheampong said acts of generosity and service to humanity could transform communities and create opportunities for people to lead better and more productive lives.
