Police Probes Murder Case At Obuasi

Bonah loosely hanging on the rope

THE OBUASI Police have commenced investigations into circumstances that led to the death of a 25-year-old man, whose body was seen hanging on a rope.

The deceased, identified as Moses Obeng Bonah, according to police preliminary investigation, did not show any sign that he was troubled before his sudden death on Saturday.

The body was found hanging on a rope in a school at Kwapia near Obuasi, where he had attended the wedding of his girlfriend’s sister on Saturday morning.

According to the police, the father of the deceased, one Mr. Bonah, reported to the Akrokeri Police that his son has been found dead in a school at Kwapia.

The police rushed to the scene and found Bonah’s body hanging on a rope. The deceased, who was nicely dressed, did not leave behind any suicide note and the police said they are not ruling out possible murder.

The Obuasi Divisional Commander, DSP Martin Asenso, speaking to journalists, said the police is suspecting foul play because they said the crime scene did not appear to look like a case of suicide.

According to him, when they stormed the crime scene, Bonah was seen standing on the veranda of the school with a rope loosely tied from his neck to the ceiling, adding they are looking at the possibility that Bonah may have been killed somewhere before his body was hanged in the school.

He said police investigations revealed that Bonah’s girlfriend, one Constance, invited him (Bonah) to the wedding of her sister at Kwapia.

Unknown to Bonah, Constance had also invited her ex-boyfriend, one Nash, from Kumasi, to the same wedding and Bonah became peeved over Constance’s behaviour.

Bonah then accused Constance of infidelity and he later on the same day (Saturday) threatened to break up with Constance for inviting Nash to the programme.

Later on the same day, Bonah’s body was seen hanging in a school at Kwapia.
