TEN SUSPECTED drug peddlers, who are all males, have been apprehended at Offinso in the Ashanti Region by the Police.

The arrest was made following an unannounced police operation at some known ghettos in the community.

The suspects are Bannor Robert aged 37, Evans Kusi aged 25, Nsiah McCarthy John aged 24, Antwi Amos aged 18, Clinton Boakye aged 22.

The rest include Stephen Oduro aged 27, Kenneth Osei Asibbey, 25, Baba Musah aged 20, Patrick Boakye aged 20 and Asare Prempeh Clifford, 26.

The police operation was, among other things, intended to help stop drug peddling and criminal activities in general within Offinso and the nearby areas.

A police document, seen by this paper, indicated that the swoop took place between the hours of 1730 and 2100 hours November 18, 2022.

“Police undertook swoop at the suspected hideouts of drug peddlers and criminals within Offinso and its environs to eliminate the criminal activities of drug peddlers and criminals in the district.

“Communities raided were Offinso Antoa, Twumasen Quarters, Dome, Mpehi Saboa and Kokote. During the Swoop, a total of ten (10) male suspects were arrested.”

The police, the report said, “conducted searches at the said ghettos and found one packet of Gold seal cigarettes, two packets of Rothmans cigarettes, one lighter, one ash Del laptop and two empty brown and black handbags.”

It said all the ten suspects have been cautioned and detained whilst exhibits retained for investigation, adding that “Suspects will be thoroughly screened, profiled and those found culpable of possessing any narcotic drugs will be arraigned before court.”
