Crime scene management experts from the Accra Regional Police Command and Headquarters have moved to the Adjirigano residence of the slain University of Ghana law lecturer to conduct reconstruction of the sad incident.
With the state-of-the-art resources deployed, the technical team made up of forensic experts, criminologists and crime scene experts are trying to elicit materials of evidential value that will aid in their investigations into the gruesome killing of Prof. Emmanuel Yaw Benneh in Accra over the weekend.
According to a police source, they are targeting evidence that will match the pathological examination of the body to enable them to get to the bottom of the matter.
“We are going to do scientific analysis of whatever we pick from the scene in order to expose the penetrators of the act,” the source said.
When contacted, the Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Effia Tenge, said the house had already been marked a crime scene to prevent any unlawful entry until investigations are completed.
She maintained that the four persons who were arrested are aiding the police in their investigations into the murder.
Prof. Benneh was found murdered in cold blood in his house last Saturday.
According to the police, they found the victim lying in a pool of blood with his hands and legs tied together and with cuts on his body at a spot between his bedroom and living room on Saturday morning.
It is believed that the law professor was murdered about three days before the body was found, and the incident has thrown the whole of the premier university into a state of mourning.
This led to the arrest of four persons who are domestic workers of the slain professor by the police.
The suspects are Christian Pobee, 32, a cleaner of the deceased who hails from Agona Swedru; Isaac Botchwey, 41, a houseboy who hails from Gomoa Tarkwa; James Nana Womba, 26, a cleaner from Asante Mampong, and Mensah Mensur, 52, a gardener from Winneba.
