Police Search For Wall Victims Family

PManagement of the Ghana Police Hospital is looking for the family of the head porter and her two-year-old son who died after a school wall collapsed on them at Newtown, a suburb of Accra.

The wall of the Kwame Nkrumah Basic School located in the Ayawaso Central Municipality collapsed on the woman, who is believed to be in her 30s and operated at the Mallam Attah Market at about 1:30pm, according to eyewitness accounts.

The yet-to-be identified child also died on the spot while strapped to the back of his mother, who was a Kayayo.

They were later rushed to the Police Hospital for treatment by witnesses but pronounced dead upon arrival by the doctors.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Police Hospital, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Yaw Nketia Yeboah told DAILY GUIDE that the bodies were conveyed to the hospital by some men.

“The deceased has a small old mark on her forehead and had a corn roll hair-do.”

Relatives, he said, are to report to the Out Patients Department (OPD) of the health facility.

Meanwhile, management of the health facility is also looking for the relations of two women, a child and man, who were knocked down by vehicles at various locations in Accra.

One of the women believed to about 58-years-old, was brought to the health facility from Odorkor.

DSP Yeboah said according to the Odorkor Police, the woman was knocked down by vehicle and had been on admission for more than eight weeks.

According to doctors, the victim sustained fractures on both legs.

“She gave her name as Mansa Alogbe and hails from Asiadowui, Tefle but resides at Madina Baba Yara.”

He said efforts to trace the family have proved futile, adding that a relative, who was contacted previously, never turned up.

The other victims were picked from Weija, Shiashie and Usher Fort, all in Accra.

The victims, who could not mention their names or that of their relatives, are currently receiving treatment.

He called on relatives to report to the OPD of the Police Hospital for further information.
