Police Submit Cecilia Dapaah’s Thieving Case Docket To A-G

The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the theft of valuable items from the home of former Minister for Sanitation, Cecilia Dapaah and her husband Daniel Osei-Kuffour.

The police have apprehended some suspects and recovered some of the stolen items, with the suspects arraigned before court. The docket has been forwarded to the Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice for review and advice.

However, the latest development is that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has arrested Cecilia Dapaah on July 24, 2023.

In a statement dated July 24, 2023, the OSP stated that Ms. Dapaah is being questioned by authorized officers of the OSP regarding suspected corruption and corruption-related offenses related to alleged large sums of money and valuable items stolen from her residence.

The OSP noted that Ms. Dapaah resigned from her position as Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources on July 22, 2023, shortly before her arrest.

The Ghanaian public has expressed surprise and dismay at the arrest of Ms. Dapaah, who had been widely respected as a competent and dedicated public servant.

The OSP’s statement has triggered media speculation about the details of the corruption allegations and the evidence supporting them.
