The Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has honoured 86 distinguished members who have contributed immensely to the growth of the church.
The event took place at Akyem New Tafo Presbyterian Church in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region.
Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta was part of those honoured for his ‘financial and material’ contributions towards the growth of the church.
Others honoured included Samuel Atta Akyea, Minister of Works and Housing; Osaberima Adusei Peasah IV, Tafohene, among others.
The honourees were presented with well crafted desktop plaques in recognition of their ‘undying’ support towards the growth of the Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Ofori-Atta expressed delight in the decision by the church to recognize the good works of its members.
He assured them of ‘good things’ to come to Ghana and said the budget he presented in Parliament would solve a lot of problems in the country, adding that with President Akufo-Addo at the helm, the country’s future prospects were bright.
The Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Dr. Seth Kissi, said the church would continue to partner the government to develop the country.
He stated that the church was doing a lot in the provision of education, health, agriculture and other social initiatives to make things better for the people.
