Presby Church To Honour JB Danquah, Ofori-Atta

The Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery is expected to award the late Joseph Boakye (J.B.) Danquah, Williams Ofori-Atta, as well as some five other Ghanaians posthumously.

The honours, according to a statement issued by the church, are for their immense and invaluable contributions towards the establishment and growth of the Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery and the Presbyterian Church of Ghana as a whole.

The remains of these seven distinguished members, among who are the members of the ‘Big Six’ lie at the Basel Mission Cemetery, Kyebi,” it said.

As part of the celebration, it stated, families of the seven honourees would pay tribute to their departed relatives and visit their tombs.

It added that the tombs would be rededicated by the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Prof. J. O. Y Mante.

“The ceremony would be in the form of a special church service at the Ebenezer Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Kyebi, on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at 10:00am prompt,” it revealed.

The event is billed to attract many dignitaries from home and abroad, sons and daughters of Akyem Abuakwa and the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, would be the guest of honour.
