Presby Inducts New Moderator

Right Rev Professor Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) will induct Right Rev Professor Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante as the 18th Moderator of the General Assembly on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the Grace Congregation of PCG at Akropong Akuapem in the Eastern Region at 9:00 am.

Right Rev Professor Mante takes over from the Very Rev Prof. Cephas Narh Omenyo, a statement signed by Rev George Larbi, Public Relations Officer of the Church, said.

Right Rev Prof. Mante was elected in August, this year during the 18th General Assembly of the PCG at Akropong Akuapem in the Eastern Region.

The new moderator comes with vast experience, having served on many boards and committees of state institutions and the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.

Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante has been a Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana since 1981 (37 years), and served as the Presbytery Chairperson of the Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana from 2006-2011.

He has trained pastors and lectured for the past 24 years at the Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon.

The new moderator served as the Academic Dean at the Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon for nine years.

He became the President of the Seminary from September 2011 to 1st August, 2018.

He has served on boards of 21 organizations, 12 of them being boards and councils of tertiary institutions.

Right Rev Prof Mante was born on 9th November, 1957 and hails from both Larteh Akuapem in the Eastern Region and Kokofu in the Asante Region.

He was commissioned into the Ordained Ministry of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in 1981 and was ordained in 1983.

The new moderator holds PhD in Systematic Theology and Philosophy of Religion (1994) from the Claremont Graduate University in California, USA.

The Induction Service would be officiated by the former moderators of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Very Rev Prof Emmanuel Martey and Very Rev Dr. Sam Prempeh.

They would be assisted by the Clerk of General Assembly, Rev Dr. Samuel Ayete-Nyampong.

President Akufo-Addo is expected to be the special guest of honour at the event.
