Prez Inspects GHS 273 Million Fufulso-Bunjai Road Project

President Akufo-Addo Inspecting the Fufulso-Bunjai Road Project

President Akufo-Addo has inspected the GHS 273.5 million 71 km Bunjai-Fufulso road project at Yapei in the Savannah region.

The Bunjai-Fufulso road project, being undertaken by Mawums Limited, commenced in 2020 and is expected to be completed in 2023.

It is being developed to link the Tamale to Salaga and the Tamale to Buipe route.

The project will provide pavement works, primer seal and sealing of the entire 71km road, construction of drainage structures and other concrete works, and 85,200 meters of road line markings.

The project will provide the general traveling public with an improved and shorter alternative route and reduce journey time linking Salaga, North East Gonja to Damongo, West Gonja, Savannah regional capital.

The road project is expected to enhance economic activities within communities near the road and enhance the standard of living of the people in those communities.

At a durbar of chiefs and people of Yapie Traditional Area, the Yapei Wura, Dr. Adam Zakaria, thanked the government for the introduction of the planting for food and Jobs policy.

According to him, the policy has enhanced farming activities and created jobs for the youth in the area and urged the youth to vanguard into farming.

He also expressed satisfaction about the work by the contractors in charge of the Bunjai-Fufulso road and thanked the government for such an infrastructure project.

He however appealed to the government to establish a second cycle Institution in the Yapei area.

“ Kusawgu and Yapei have several Junior High Schools but it’s sad to note that there’s no single second cycle school or senior technical school in this area so we are appealing to you to help us with a second cycle institution to be located in the Kusawgu traditional area to offer educational facilities for the people of the area.”

President Akufo-Addo also inspected the agenda 111 projects at Daboya in the North Gonja district of the Savannah region.

He urged the people of the Savannah region to turn their attention to the New Patriotic Party(NPP) and vote massively for the party for more developmental projects in the region.

Mr. President also paid a courtesy call on the Kusawgu Wura at his palace to bring his two-day tour of the Savannah region to an end.
