The year-on-year Producer Price Index (PPI) between June 2022 and June 2023 is 29.2 per cent.
This representing a 1.1 percentage point decrease in producer inflation relative to the rate recorded in May 2023 which was 30.3 percent.
The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) revealed this at its monthly press briefing in Accra.
The Government Statistician, Prof. Samuel Kobina Annim, said the month-on-month change in the PPI between May 2023 and June 2023 was 0.6 per cent.
He further highlighted that the PPI in the industry less construction sector decreased to 31.3 percent in June 2023 from 32.5 percent in May 2023.
“The rate in the construction sector decreased to 19.3 percent in June 2023 from 20.0 per cent in May 2023. In the services sector, the rate decreased from 18.1 per cent in May 2023 to 17.6 per cent in June 2023,” he stated.
The Government Statistician also added that some sectors recorded rates higher than the national average.
“The electricity and gas, at the rate 70.6 per cent, transportation and storage at 49.2 per cent, water supply, sewage, and waste management at 38.5 per cent, accommodation and food service activities at 37.9 per cent, and mining and quarrying at 31.0 per cent recorded rates above the national average while information and communication activity recorded the lowest rate of 11.1 per cent in June 2023,” he added.
