Prof. Christian Agyare
PROF. CHRISTIAN Agyare has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.
His four-year tenure would commence on August 1, 2026.
Prof Agyare succeeds Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson, whose tenure would officially come to an end on July 31, 2026.
The University Council accepted the report of the Search Committee for Vice Chancellor, and appointed him during its 292nd (Special) meeting, held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
Prof. Agyare, who is a Professor of Pharmaceutics, until his appointment as the KNUST VC, was serving as the Provost of College of Health Sciences of KNUST.
The KNUST has officially given public notice of the appointment of the new Vice Chancellor and it was authored and signed by Benjamin B. Owusu, ESQ, the Registrar of the university.
“It is announced for the information of Members of Staff. Students, the University Community and the general public that the Council of the University, at its 292nd (Special) Meeting held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, considered and accepted the Report of the Search Committee for Vice-Chancellor, and subsequently appointed PROFESSOR CHRISTIAN AGYARE, Professor of Pharmaceutics, as Vice-Chancellor, for a Four-Year Term, with effect from August 01, 2026 to July 31, 2030,” a written document of the University, announcing the appointment of the new VC, read.
