Prof Ablade Glover, a renowned artist, educator and a senior member of the royal family of the Kpobi We (the ruling gate) of La in the Greater Accra Region has expressed worry over the mad rush by people to sell their lands to developers.
At an event to commemorate the thirty (30) years of enstoolment of Nii Dr.Kpobi Tettey Tsuru III, the Paramount Chief of La on Sunday, Prof Glover expressed fears that if the practice is not controlled succeeding generations would be deprived of the opportunity to own lands for their development agendas.
“Lands around the Trade Fair, the public cemetery, among others, have been sold out; however, the majority of our people are still languishing in poverty and have no decent place to lay their heads,” he lamented.
Prof. Glover who was presenting the commemorative address during the pre-launch of the thirtieth anniversary charged the people of La to lead exemplary lives so that the younger generation will have a legacy to be proud of adding that they should always learn to uphold the truth.
“The truth is always bitter to swallow, however, when taken in – people lead orderly lives,” he indicated.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for La Dadekotopon Constituency, Vincent Sowah Odotei while commending the Paramount Chief of La for the achievement, called on the people to continue to collaborate with the chief and his elders in harmony for more development projects.
“As we commemorate our treasured paramount chief, what we should be considering now as a people is what our roles have been over the thirty years and the way forward,” he stated.
The MP who is also the Deputy Minister for Communication urged the people to take advantage of the many initiatives the President is rolling out to improve their status.
