PZ Cussons Observes Handwashing Day

Ghana’s Most Beautiful contestants with Dr. Emelia Ababio teaching handwashing with Carex handwash on Global Handwashing Day

Global Handwashing Day is celebrated annually on October 15 with the aim of fostering and supporting a general culture of handwashing with soap in all societies, shining a spotlight on the state of handwashing in each nation and raising awareness on the benefits of handwashing with soap under running water.

The tagline for this year’s celebration was ‘clean hands – a recipe for health’.

In line with this theme, PZ Cussons celebrated the event by reminding and teaching consumers the importance of handwashing with soap and water before eating.

The PZ Cussons team was joined by the Ghana Medical Association and TV3’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful contestants to undertake this exercise at Las Palmas, a popular eatery in Madina.

Carex is a sister brand of Camel Antiseptic and is endorsed by the Ghana Medical Association. Camel/Carex is currently running a promotion which rewards consumers every week with a trip to Dubai.

Hafsa Arthur, head of Brand Development & Activations at PZ Cussons Ghana, stated that “PZ Cussons has always championed handwashing with soap with its leading hand wash, Carex hand wash and will continue to do so in coming years.

The importance of handwashing in preventing communicable diseases such as cholera cannot be overemphasized, hence the need to dedicate a day to raise awareness and educate people on handwashing each year.”

Hundreds of consumers, including children, market women and drivers were taught proper handwashing with Carex handwash and were also sampled with Carex hand sanitisers to use on the go.
