Rainstorm Rips Off KyeKyewere School Roofs

School children left strundded after the roof over their classroom was ripped off in a storm.

THE ASHANTI Regional community of Kyekyewere in the Adansi North District has been battered with severe rainstorm, leaving properties damaged and trees torn down.

The only Government school in the community, Kyekyewere D/A Junior High School (JHS), bore the brunt of the tragic incident as roofs of classrooms and offices got ripped off in the rainstorm swept across the area on Monday evening.

No injuries or fatalities were reported though DGN online gathered that trees and roofs of other properties were also blown whilst textbooks, exercise books and computers belonging to the students of the affected school were damaged.

Headmaster of Kyekyewere D/A JHS, William Boakye Yiadom said the rainstorm caused havoc to teaching materials, which had affected teaching and learning.

He noted that the students had no place to sit for classes to go no and therefore appealed for swift Government to restore normalcy to the school.

Mr Boakye said management and the Parent Teachers Association had sought audience with the traditional authority to find improvised places for classes to resume immediately.
