Rawlings Final Funeral Rites Begin

Guests have started arriving at the Independence Square for the final funeral rites of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.

The final funeral rites come on the back of a two-day lying in state and filing past of his mortal remains at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The final filing past is taking place from 8:00am to 9:00am this morning.

Former President John Mahama, and other individuals including the family of Mr Rawlings have filed past his body for the final time this morning.

Mr Rawlings died on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after a short sickness.

He was born in 1947 aged 73 and was a two time democratically elected president after initially assuming power as a military ruler.
