Regional Ministers Attend Workshop On Procurement

A two days workshop on public procurement for regional ministers and selected management staff of the newly created regions have begun in Accra.

The ministers are from the six new regions namely Savannah, North East, Western North, Bono, Bono East, Oti.

The workshop which started on Saturday morning, August 31, 2019, is being held by the Ministry of Public Procurement in partnership with the Ministry of Regional Reorganization and Development.

It is taking place at the AH Hotel, at East Legon, a suburb of Accra.

Resource persons for the workshop include Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Frank Mantle.

It comes days after the PPA was hit with a major procurement scandal, leading to the suspension of its CEO, AB Adjei.

The ministers are being trained on issues such as the legal framework of public procurement in Ghana, importance of establishing procurement units, procurement planning, tender eligibility, thresholds for procurement according to categorization, among others.
