Reks Brobby
The African Union (AU) Sports Authority Board has nominated Olympian Reks Brobby to serve on the Technical Committee of the 2027 African Games slated for Egypt.
During AUSC’s Ordinary Session held in Algeria last month, it considered engaging experts to serve on the Technical Committee in line with AU Statutes as captured in Article (18) F.
Reks Brobby’s appointment comes on the heels of Ghana’s successful hosting of the 2023 African Games, aimed at getting many Ghanaians appointed onto various sports posts in Africa and beyond.
The constituted Technical Committee of the African Games (TCAG) held their first meeting on Friday, November 1.
In a letter signed by Decius H. Chipande (PhD), Coordinator, AU Sports Council, stated, “The aim of this letter is to inform you that you have been nominated to serve on the Technical Committee of the African Games (TCAG) in accordance with Article (18) F of Statutes of AUSC. The nomination is subject to ratification by the AU specialised committee meeting of Ministers of Youth, Culture and Sports to be held in 2025, in line with Article (10) F of the Statutes of AUSC.
Other members of the Technical Committee include Dr. Decius Chipande, AUSC Coordinator, Maj. Gen Ahmed Nasser, AASC, Ms Angela Martins, Sports Division, Sid Ahmed Selmi, AUSC Region 1, Dr. Samuel Ogbondeminu, AUSC Region 2, Mr. Zenon Kabamba, Representative AUSC Region 3, Mr. James Akama, AUSC Region 4, Mr. Stanley Mutoya, AUSC Region 5, Mrs. Penina Kabenge, Mrs. Loubna Belabbes, Mr. Reks Brobby and Mr Pasponoga Liwewe.
Brobby, an Olympian and part of the Adidas franchise in Ghana, was also the Deputy Chief Operating Officer when Ghana won the bid and hosted the Africa Cup of Nations, CAN 2008, and also was the Deputy Chief Operating Officer for the 13th African Games LOC hosted in Ghana.
