The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested Baba Alhassan, the leader of a youth group calling itself ‘Concerned NPP Youth Coalition’ who attacked the Tamale Teaching Hospital CEO, Dr. Kolbilla David.

The Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), DSP Yusif Mohammed Tanko, who confirmed the arrest to DAILY GUIDE, said the suspect was arrested at his hideout on Monday.

According to him, the suspect, Baba Alhassan is currently in police custody assisting in investigation.

He disclosed that the suspect will be charged with assault, unlawful entry and offensive conduct.

Before his arrest, Baba Alhassan, the leader of the youth group calling itself ‘Concerned NPP Youth Coalition’ has rendered an unqualified apology to the CEO of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Doctors, all health and administrative staff of the institution, patients and the entire region for the inconvenience his action has caused the facility.

He indicated that matters of the hospital should be of great concern to every citizen of the region since it is the biggest referral center and the only hub of health delivery and medical studies.

“We call on authorities to take the matters of TTH very seriously since there are some evidences of improper management of the facility.”

He appealed to government to expedite action in the appointment of the board of the hospital to help in the smooth running of the facility.

Meanwhile, the police had released the four suspected ‘Kandahar Boys’ who were arrested in connection with the attack on the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

The police indicated that they could not establish any evidence against them. The hospital authorities could not also identify the suspects as part of those who attacked the hospital.

A joint military and police team arrested the suspects in a swoop at the base of the Kandahar Boys.
