A 22-YEAR-old male suspect has been apprehended and detained by the Suntreso Police in Kumasi for, allegedly, attempting to rob a certain man of his mobile phone.

Rafic Abdella, the suspect, is reported to have fiendishly used a sharp butcher’s knife to assault one Baba Ali, his robbery victim, as he tried to snatch the phone from him.

After managing to inflict multiple wounds on his helpless victim, the suspect was about to flee from the scene with the phone when he was arrested and sent to the police station.

Baba Ali, the victim, bled profusely following the severe body injuries that he sustained, and was rushed to a nearby medical facility, where he was admitted and treated for his injuries.

According to the Suntreso District Police report, sighted by the DAILY GUIDE, the incident happened at Kwadaso near the Shell Filling Station, around 1 a.m. on January 14, 2026.

It said, “D/Inspr Eric Asante of the NSCS Accra, accompanied by Lopez Kojo, leader of the Kwadaso Community Watch Committee, arrested and brought in suspect Rafic Abdella, a 22-year-old man, together with a butcher’s knife.

“And they reported that on the said date about 01:00 a.m., the said suspect attempted to rob victim Baba Ali of his mobile phone by inflicting multiple cutlass wounds on him with the said butcher’s knife.”

The report said police medical form was issued to the victim and he was afterwards rushed to the Kwadaso SDA Hospital for treatment, adding that suspect has been detained at the Kwadaso Police Station for further action.

According to the police, the “victim’s condition appears to be stable,” noting that police have already “obtained his statement” as efforts are underway to send the suspect to court soon.
