Robbers Attack St Mary’s Students

The dormitory with blood stains on the floor after the incident

Two students of St. Mary’s Boys Senior High School in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region have been attacked by assailants on campus.

The victims, Abdul Majeed Alhassan and Osborn Osei, both 17 years old, were attacked at their dormitory at the ‘Otoo House’ while they were asleep at about 11pm on Friday.

Following the attack, the Kwesimintsim Police Command picked up one person suspected to be a member of the gang that looted and injured the two students.

The suspect, Raymond Arhu, 30, is a resident of Apowa, a nearby town.

The victims sustained severe machete wounds in the head during the attack and were rushed to the Kwesimintsim Hospital and later referred to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for further treatment due to the severity of the injuries.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the suspect was arrested from his hideout following a tip-off by one of the students.

It turned out that the suspect and his team attempted another robbery on Sunday evening at one of the dormitories and he was later identified by the student.

Items retrieved from the suspect included chop boxes full of food items, schoolbags, three student mattresses, textbooks and student sandals, among others.

The Kwesimintsim Police Commander, Chief Supt. Peter Lenox Aidoo, confirmed the incident and said the suspect took advantage of the mid-term break to attack the students who were still on campus.

He said the suspect was in police custody pending further investigations and would soon be put before court.
