RTU Returns After 8 Years

RTU was relegated to Division One in 2013

Traditional side Real Tamale United (RTU) reclaimed their promotional status when they posted a 2-0 win over Unity FC on the final day of the Division One Zone One League.

The win sent the entire northern region, particularly Tamale, into frenzy after news broke that Bofoakwa Tano drew goalless with Berekum Arsenals at the Golden City Park.

The northern region side shrugged of stiff opposition from Bofoakwa despite same points of 65 accumulation.

With a better head-to-head than Bofoakwa, having played scoreless in Sunyani and won 2-0 in Tamale, RTU returns to the elite league after eight years in the ‘wilderness’.

In 2013, a below average performance coupled with financial difficulties forced the team into relegation, and have struggled from then till recently.

RTU thus join Accra Lions and Bibiani Gold Stars as the three teams to play in the Premiership next season.

The three teams replace demoted sides –Liberty Professionals, Inter Allies and Ebusua Dwarfs.
