The Former Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Salifu Saeed, has officially handed over to the newly appointed Northern Regional Minister, Shani Alhassan Shaibu.
The handing over ceremony took place at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) on Monday, March15, 2021.
The former regional minister thanked President Akufo-Addo for giving him the opportunity to serve as the regional minister for four years
He also thanked the staff of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council for their support and called on them to give their full support to the new regional minister for the development of the region and Ghana as a whole.
Mr. Saeed said development of the region would depend on the current peace in the region and called on the people in the Northern Region to ensure that the peace in the region was sustained for the region to enjoy the necessary development.
The former minister also noted that the Northern Region had a lot of potentials and advised the newly appointed regional minister to take advantage of the potentials of the region to continue with the developmental plan for the region.
The former regional minister also used the occasion to thank the regional executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), religious leaders , the media and security agencies in the region for the massive support accorded him when he was the regional minister.
The newly appointed Northern Regional Minister, for his part, also thanked his predecessor for promoting the development of the region during his time in office
According to him, the development of the region depends on the entire coordinating council and the people of Dagbon and called on them for their support.
“The Coordinating Council is made up of several units and for that matter we will have to put our talents together to be able to achieve the results that we have set to achieve and we can only achieve that when we are united,” the new regional minister said.
He stated that the office of the regional minister would be opened to the public to ensure accelerated development of the region.
Mr. Shaibu assured the people of the region that he would work hard to transform the region and lobby for the necessary developmental projects to the region.
