Salinko Announces Plans To Contest For MP

Salinko

Kumawood actor, Salinko, has announced his intention to contest for a parliamentary seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The actor, whose real name is Abraham Kofi Davis, announced during an interview on Fakye TV’s Fakye Showbiz.

According to Salinko, he has reached a stage in life where he wants to focus on public service and contribute to the development of his community.

He said he is considering contesting either the Old Tafo or Atwima Kwanwoma parliamentary seat in the Ashanti Region.

Salinko also criticised some Members of Parliament, accusing them of failing to address the needs of their constituents despite having access to public resources.

This will not be his first attempt at politics. In 2016, he contested the Atwima Kwanwoma parliamentary seat on the ticket of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), where he secured about 1,800 votes.

He said the experience convinced him that he has the potential to succeed in politics and revealed that he had previously received interest from both the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Salinko said he does not intend to contest as an independent candidate, insisting that he wants to pursue his political ambitions through one of the major political parties.

He added that while he has bigger political ambitions in the future, his immediate goal is to become a Member of Parliament.

The Old Tafo seat is currently held by Vincent Ekow Assafuah, while Kofi Amankwa-Manu is the MP for Atwima Kwanwoma.
