Sammi Awuku Goes Unopposed In Akropong Constituency

The Campaign Manager for the Vice President and current Director General of the National Lotteries Authority (NLA) Sammi Awuku has been acclaimed as the Parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Akropong constituency in the Eastern Region.

On Saturday, 2nd December, he was
was unanimously endorsed by the delegates after presented as the sole contender in the parliamentary primary at the ceremony held at the Akropong Presbyterian College of Education.

The event was graced by the Regional Chairman, Jeff Konadu Addo, who urged the delegates to unite and secure victory for the party in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

Sammi Awuku, acclamation follows the decision of the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei who is in her second term opted to contest at Okaikoi North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region instead of Akropong.

Sammi Awuku picked the nomination forms to contest the seat after the Party opened its nomination as he wss going unopposed.

In a post on his Facebook page, he noted that ‘’After several months of consultations and in response to the call from the chiefs, faith-based groups and people from the Akuapem North Constituency, I have picked and filed my nominations to contest for the parliamentary seat of the constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party’’.

According to him, ‘’I believe this allows me to contribute towards the growth and development of the area. It will be an honour to represent the interests, concerns, and aspirations of the constituents. This is a call to service!’’.

Addressing journalists after the acclamation, the Director General of the NLA said “It has been a long journey. Over ten to eleven years, together with a few friends, we started this. Wonderful people, they rallied behind me. We engaged the party people, and they kept saying that I would be given the opportunity when the time comes”.

According to him, “They have done an acclamation, and I don’t take this for granted. On any day, whether rain or shine, I will stand by them, and we will develop the constituency together”.

He added “We will ensure that development in the areas of roads, health, potable water, electricity. All those who left come home, let’s work together, I will be a candidate for all the people, and I want to be an MP when elected for all. This is a call to service”.

The Supremo, affectionately called recently organized a mega health walk dubbed ‘’Offie Walk’’ aimed to increase the votes in the Akuapem North Constituency with his economic rebound local initiative.
