Sarkodie Grabs South Africa Hip Hop Award Nomination

GHANAIAN RAPPER, songwriter, and entrepreneur Michael Owusu Addo, known professionally as Sarkodie, has been nominated at the annual South African Hip Hop Awards (SAHHA) for the Best International Act category.

As announced on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, Sarkodie who recently released his ‘No Pressure Album’ competes with Botswana-Gaborone professional comedian and musician William Last KRM, British Rapper, and actor Little Simz, American rapper Kanye, and Drake in the Best International Act category.

The Best International Act category was introduced this year to celebrate the 10th edition of the event alongside another new category, Artiste of the Decade.

Established in 2012, the annual SAHHA awards platform highlights and celebrates outstanding artists in the world. The SAHHA is the year’s biggest celebration of hip hop on the African continent, and this year is no different as it will showcase those who stood above the rest with their artistic innovation and further define their careers through what has been the toughest year for artists all across the globe.

After a successful run last year, SAHHA returns with what has been dubbed as “The Manifesto”, which is the theme for this year. The show will boast several appearances, live performances, and tributes by today’s leading musicians within the hip hop culture and will be aired on SABC 1 on December 4, 2021.

The categories, including Album of the Year, Best Radio Show, Best Female Rapper, Song of the Year, and DJ of the Year. Among those who were nominated for this year’s SAHHA are Nasty C, Big Zulu, Blxckie, Priddy Ugly, and A-Reece.

Undoubtedly, the biggest rap artist on the continent Sarkodie has been tipped to win the Best International Act category considering his contribution to the entertainment industry for decades now.
