Sefwi Chiefs Chase Gay Suspects

Some of the suspects

The chiefs and people of Sefwi Asawinso in the Western North Region have launched a manhunt for the arrest of two suspected gay partners in the area who are on the run.

This was after some youth in the area pounced on them upon a tip off and claimed they saw the suspects in the act of engaging in unnatural carnal knowledge, arrested them and later handed them over to the Sefwi Asawinso police.

The said operation took place on Monday, February 5, 2024.

The youth said the informant told them that four men were allegedly engaged in unnatural carnal knowledge in one room, and so they forced the door open and two of the alleged gays managed to escape.

Reports indicated that one of the suspect is a known fashion designer in the area (name withheld) while his alleged partner was from Nyinahini, near Bibiani.

Information gathered indicated that while the four were in the room, those around heard some unusual noise coming from the room and alerted some of the youth, who later pounced on the suspects.

“When we entered the room, we saw condoms with sperms, some lubricants in some white paper like Vaseline. Some of the residents wanted to take the law into their own hands by beating the suspects, but the police intervened,” the youth asserted.

The two were handed over to the police, who remanded them in their custody.

Meanwhile, the chief linguist of Sefwi Asawinso, Nana Kyeame Gyasi and Abusuapanin of Sefwi Asawinso, Nana Kofi Nkrumah have described the alleged act as an abomination, stressing that the area needed serious purification.

“We asked the suspects and their landlord to come to the palace for the necessary rituals and purification process, but only the landlord came.

“He told us one of the suspects has travelled, but we will still wait for them to come and perform the necessary rituals,” they disclosed.

Meanwhile, the youth of Sefwi Asawinso have vowed to deal with anyone who engages in the abominable act which could tarnish the image of the chiefs and people.
