Shatta Wale. INSET: Sarkodie
Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale took a swipe at rapper Sarkodie, describing him as a “nobody” in response to Sarkodie’s claims that he (Shata Wale) wears chains made from aluminium.
This was during his performance at the launch concert of his ‘Reign’ album on Saturday night at the Fantasy Dome at the Trade Fair in Accra.
In his diss song titled ‘Advice’, Sarkodie jabbed Shatta Wale several times and called him an attention seeker.
The song was released weeks after Shatta Wale called Sarkodie “poor” in an interview on LUV FM in Kumasi.
A line in the song that alleged that Shatta wears aluminium (“alumi”) chains seemed to have hit Shatta Wale very hard.
“I want some nice girl who is a Sarkodie fan, I want to give her my gold chain to go and check if I ever wear alumi chain,” he said when he halted his performance to address Sarkodie’s claim.
He then went on to remove his shirt and after no one really came forward as a Sarkodie fan, Shatta Wale declared that “he has no fan here then it means Sarkodie is nobody.”
Earlier on Saturday, Sarkodie posted links to Shatta’s album on Twitter, asking his followers to support his fellow musician. Some Ghanaians described the move as great and mature, but that didn’t stop Shatta Wale’s response.
Meanwhile, the album launch attracted a lot of Shatta Wale’s fans.
Some of them allegedly couldn’t get access to the venue because there was no space for them. Organisers of the event, according to reports, allegedly sold more tickets than the venue could contain. But that did not affect the success of the event.
A businessman and his wife, simply called Mr. & Mrs. Slegg, shocked patrons by purchasing the first copy of the album for GH¢150,000.
The amount they offered was above the GH¢100,000 auctioning price for the first copy of the ‘Reign’ album.
Shatta Wale also performed a number of his old songs and sent fans chanting his name throughout his performance.
He also surprised many when he went on his knees to propose to his long-time girlfriend, Shatta Michy.
