SHC Ready With ‘Borga’ Houses

Kwabena Ampofo Appiah, MD SHC

Kwabena Ampofo Appiah, Managing Director of the nation’s number one builder, State Housing Company (SHC), has assured Ghanaians in the diaspora, commonly known as ‘Borgas’, that SHC is well positioned to solve all their housing needs while they go about their businesses abroad.

“There is nothing more heartbreaking than trusting someone with your money to put up a house for you, only to return home to meet a hut,” Mr Appiah observed, adding, that is the more reason SHC is taking stock of the concerns and needs of Ghanaians in the diaspora to fashion out tailor made solutions for them.

The SHC managing director recently made the disclosure on Peace FM.

“Our friends and relatives abroad should have confidence in SHC, buy houses from us, let us build for you and you will never regret it,” he assured.

He said with the new vision, “providing more houses”, SHC was opening more regional offices across the country in a bid to close the widening housing deficit.

“We are acquiring more lands, Otumfuo Osei Tutu has given us land in Kumasi and the Omanhene of Sefwi Wiawso has done same, so we are actually poised. The President cut sod in December last year for our housing project in Pusunamongo, near Bolgatanga,” he added.

He disclosed further that the John Agyekum Kufuor Estate in Kumasi “is on course and is at various levels of completion.”

He expressed appreciation to the traditional leaders and appealed to other traditional authorities to make lands available to SHC for construction of houses.

“The country is opening up and so we cannot do business as usual. We are taking off,” he added.

Mr. Ampofo Appiah also took advantage of the platform to show his appreciation to workers of SHC Ltd for their hard work and unflinching support.
