Sidiku Buari Robber Busted After 4 Years

Suspect Alfred Adakwa in police custody

The police have finally apprehended Alfred Adarkwa, 37, at Kasoa Millennium City who allegedly robbed Alhaji Sidiku Buari, former president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), four years ago.

The police arrested Adarkwa, aka Kwame, after they investigated him for embarking on a series of robberies in the metropolis.

Alhaji Sidiku Buari identified the suspect at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Accra last Friday.

Adarkwa later confessed to the offence and added that his accomplice called Sammy died after the vehicle of Alhaji Sidiku Buari was snatched from him.

Confirming the story to DAILY GUIDE, Deputy Superintendent Of Police (DSP) Olivia Turkson, said in November 2014, police received information from Alhaji Sidiku Buari that his Toyota Rav 4, 2007 model, which was unregistered and valued GH¢55,000 had been snatched by armed robbers.

The victim indicated that he pasted his mobile number on the vehicle in an attempt to sell it to interested buyers.

He said he received a call from a man who expressed interest in buying the vehicle and travelled to his house at Dzorwulu to inspect the car.

After inspecting the vehicle, the two settled on GH¢55,000.

The said buyer told the victim that he would send his mechanic to further inspect the vehicle after which payment would be made.

Few minutes after the said buyer left, Adarkwa, who posed as the mechanic, also came to Alhaji’s house to inspect the vehicle again.

After the inspection, Adakwa asked Alhaji Sidiku Buari to drive him to assess the condition of the vehicle on the road and so they drove towards the Dzorwulu Fidelity bank area.

Less than 100 meters from the bank, Adakwa, who was in the front seat, told the victim that he heard some noise at the back of the vehicle and asked him to stop.

The suspect got out of the vehicle to check the vehicle and later called the victim to come to the rear of the victim and leave the engine on.

As soon as the victim left the front seat to check what was happening, the suspect immediately jumped into the vehicle and sped off.

The police PRO said upon his arrest, Adakwa revealed that Sammy sent him to rob Alhaji of the vehicle.

The suspect said Sammy later gave him GH¢4,500 as his share of the booty.

Alhaji Sidiku Buari, when contacted, confirmed that he had gone to the Anti Armed Robbery Unit of the CID to identify the suspect.

“I am surprised that after four years the police have been able to arrest my attacker, but I leave everything to the police to do their job,” he added.
