Sly Tetteh Joins Bawumia Campaign Team

In a surprising move, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro, Sylvester Tetteh has announced his departure from former Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen’s campaign team to join the team of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

The move comes after Kyerematen withdrew from the NPP presidential primary, leaving Tetteh in search of a new candidate to support.

In an interview on Metro TV, Sly Tetteh spoke of his extensive consultations with his constituents and colleagues before making the decision to support Bawumia, whom he described as the best candidate for the upcoming 2024 elections.

“I believe that he will make a good president. From the look of things, I think he will make a better president than those in the race,” he said.

Tetteh’s defection is a significant boost to Bawumia’s campaign, as the MP has a considerable following in his constituency and has been a vocal supporter of Kyerematen in the past.

The move also underscores the intense competition for support within the ruling party, as potential candidates jostle for position ahead of the primary.

As the 2024 elections draw closer, it remains to be seen whether Bawumia’s candidacy will continue to gain momentum, or whether another candidate will emerge as a serious challenger to his bid for the presidency.

Whatever happens, it is clear that the political landscape in Ghana is shifting rapidly, with new alliances and rivalries emerging almost daily.
