So Aesthetic Wins Beauty Brand Of The Year At 2020 Makeup Awards

The 2020 edition of the prestigious Ghana Makeup Awards successfully came off at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra on Friday amidst observation of COVID-19 safety protocols.

It was attended by a number of stakeholders in the beauty industry and Minister of Education Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh. Also in attendance were actress Martha Ankomah, Prince David Osei, Mimi Adani Michaels, and Kwame Sefa Kayi among others.

Key awards were handed out to players who have excelled in the year under review.

Beauty Entrepreneur of the Year Award went to Stephanie Adu, CEO of Colorbox Cosmetics who also won Digital Commence & Marketing category.

Portia Gyeni-Boateng of Cutie Bridal, Zara Nasara Ibrahim-Tanko of Slay By Zara and So Aesthetic were adjudged Industry Choice Award- Most Influential, Discovery Artist of the Year and Beauty Brand of the Year respectively.

Some stakeholders were also honoured for their efforts to help stem the spread of the COVID-19 in Ghana. In that category, Dr. Hannah-Lisa Tetteh took home the Digital Education & Advocacy Award while Skin Gourmont Hand Sanitizer received Best Innovative Response Strategy To COVID-19 Award.

The 2020 Ghana Makeup Awards was organised by Makeup Ghana to honour excellence in the beauty industry.

The ceremony was also used to officially launch the first ever curriculum for makeup artistry made up of two National Technical & Vocational Education and Training (TVET) accredited competency-based training programmes by the Minister of Education.

Hosted by award-winning media personality Berla Mundi, there were interesting performances by Adina and Kobi Rana among others.

Also, special recognition awards were given to some gallant men in the beauty industry.

They included Eric Amankwa of Rozay Cosmetics, King David Thompson and Bernard Kingsley Annoh, Founder of Berlin Cosmetics Limited, manufacturers of Black Secret beauty brand.

Mrs. Joyce Godslove Akutor Lamptey, President of National Association of Beauticians & Hairdressers and Madam Margaret Sappor, who is also a beautician with expertise in hairdressing and bridal makeup from the 1960s, received Lifetime Achievement Award each at the ceremony. Miss Jemima Akua Kyereda Deveer, CEO of the House Jade Enterprise on the other hand was given Honourary Award.
