Sosu, ASEPA Boss, Others’ Trials Adjourned

Francis-Xavier Sosu

THE TRIALS of Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu; Executive Director of Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA), Mensah Thompson; actor and comedian Benson Nana Yaw Oduro Boateng aka Funny Face, as well as broadcast journalist, Bobie Ansah, have all been adjourned to April 25.

The four cases are all before a Kaneshie Magistrate Court presided over by His Worship Isaac Oheneba-Kuffour, and are at various stages.

But these were all adjourned yesterday due to the absence of the presiding magistrate, whom DAILY GUIDE gathered was attending a professional course.

Mr. Sosu, a lawyer, is before the court following a demonstration he organised on October 25, 2021, to push for good roads in his constituency, which ended up in violence, according to the police.

He was charged for his alleged involvement in a demonstration that led to the blockage of road and the destruction of property in some parts of his constituency.

He has been charged with obstruction of public way, causing damage to other road users and unlawful damage, to which he pleaded not guilty. He was granted a self-recognisance bail by the court.

Mensah Thompson is standing trial over false claims that some family members of the President used the presidential jet for shopping in the United Kingdom in December last year.

The accused made the claims on his Facebook page in January, which drew a lot of public outcry. He later retracted the allegation and apologised for it after he was not able to prove his statements.

He has been charged with two counts of publication of false news and offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Funny Face, on the other hand, is standing trial for threatening to kill the mother of his twins and also threatened to commit suicide.

He was initially committed into a medical facility by the court but was later released and granted GH¢20,000 bail by the court.

Bobbie Ansah is also before the court on two counts of publication of false news and offensive conduct, following claims that the First and Second Ladies had granted themselves state lands at AU Village, around the Kotoka International Airport for the construction of Rebecca Foundation.
