South Africa Goes Under Covid-19 Alert Level 4

President Cyril Ramaphosa

South Africa has been placed under coronavirus alert level four.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the new level on Sunday, June 27, 2021.

Alert level four is just one level below a full lockdown.

South Africa will be under the alert level four for two weeks to fight an increase in coronavirus cases.

South Africa “is facing a massive resurgence of infection, our health facilities are stretched to the limit… ICU beds are in short supply,” Mr Ramaphosa said in a televised address.
