Prof. Mike Oquaye

The Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Mike Oquaye, has recalled Parliament from recess on Monday, April 29 to consider some important parliamentary business, including the completion of work on the Companies Bill, which is currently before the House.

A statement signed by the acting Director of the Public Affairs Department of Parliament, Kate Addo, said that Parliament would sit from Monday, April 29 to Friday, May 3 and urged all Members of Parliament (MPs) to make themselves available for public business.

“The recall is in accordance with the power conferred on the Speaker by Order 42(3) of the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana, which provides that the Speaker may, if he thinks fit, call a sitting of the House before the date or time to which it has been adjourned or at any time after the House has been adjourned sine dine,” the statement said.

It’s also expected that the Bill on Vigilantism and Related Offences will be considered by MPs during the recall.
