Dr. Agyarko Poku speaking to the media
Ambulance drivers who speed unnecessarily have been cautioned to put a stop to that action in order to protect lives and property.
The Medical Superintendent of Suntreso Government Hospital, Dr. Agyarko Poku, who gave the warning, said some ambulance drivers speed a lot, thereby putting the life of patients and other road users in danger.
Dr. Agyarko Poku was addressing the media when Francis Asenso-Boakye, a Deputy Chief of Staff, recently made a donation to the Suntreso Government Hospital.
He stressed the need for ambulance drivers to be extra careful and shun speeding, especially when they are driving patients to the hospital in order to avert crashes.
Ideally, he said there are equipment and medical staff in the ambulance to treat patients, so it is not appropriate for the driver to speed and put other lives in danger.
Dr. Agyarko Poku stated that once drivers and other road users create space for an ambulance to move, the ambulance driver should not speed to cause accidents.
He also admonished drivers and other road users to always respect ambulance vehicles on the road.
The medical superintendent warned ambulance drivers to desist from using ambulance vehicles to carry foodstuffs and other goods from the market and other places.
