A top-notched financial institution in the country – Stanbic Bank – yesterday saluted three staffers of Daily Guide for picking three awards during last Saturday’s Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) awards programme held at Kempinski Hotel in Accra.

A giant cake was presented to the newspaper in the newsroom by representatives of the bank in the persons of Messrs Kojo Larbi and Joseph Osei – both of the Marketing Department of the bank. The cake was presented in recognition of the feat.

In presenting the beautifully decorated cake with the inscription ‘Daily Guide for being so great at your job we say congratulations, Stanbic Bank’, Mr. Larbi, an outstanding media practitioner until his absorption by the bank’s Marketing Department, told the Chief News Editor A.R. Gomda “we in the  Stanbic Bank are excited about the journalistic feats chalked up by Daily Guide. Therefore, we are here to associate ourselves with your success story. It is our expectation that you will continue to contribute your quota towards the raising of journalistic standards in the country. Keep it up”.

The Chief News Editor told the Stanbic Bank guests “we are most grateful for your gesture and promise to maintain the momentum and strive for excellence as Stanbic Bank is doing in the banking sector under the leadership of Mr. Alhassan Andani and his great management team and staff.”

Daily Guide staffers Jamila Akweley Okertchiri picked the Best Female Journalist of the Year award as her colleague Linda Tenya-Ayettey picked an award for report on HIV AIDS. The Best Cartoonist award also went to the Daily Guide cartoonist, Akosua.
