Such A Sleazy Conduct!

There is no letup in the pressure being piled upon Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to exit the honourable office he holds in trust for the people of this country.

Being the façade of the country in the eyes of the outside world, the Foreign Affairs Minister should not be seen to be involved in matters bordering on sleaziness.

There is no denying the fact that the diplomatic community is taking critical notes about the goings-on and reporting same to their home bases as the chief government diplomatic is on the spot, his defence not enough to save him from the stinking morality abyss he has fallen into.

By the time there is an ebb in the pressure being mounted upon him, he would have been left with no shred of dignity to continue holding the honourable office of Foreign Affairs Minister.

The Minority in Parliament’s pressure has been noticed and we wish to salute the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee for the oversight role they have played so well since the scandal emerged. But for the committee’s steadfastness, the subject would have faded.

It is regrettable that a moral issue such as this has still not elicited a reaction from the President.

ORAL Ablakwa has been trapped in the web of financial morality, his political fall clearly in the horizon.

The Ablakwa who promised to commit suicide should a Mahama government of which he would be a part be associated with corruption.

The matter under review joins the series of corruptible acts to occur in the second and last term of President John Mahama, a government in which Ablakwa is a key player.

A few days ago, in his political death throes, he demanded that an audit of previous evacuations be undertaken. Just how this would impact the current issue is inconceivable. Perhaps we should pardon him on this because a drowning man would do everything possible to save himself.

The figures are not adding up and the actions being resorted to are ironically exposing the desperation of the Minister.

Today, Ablakwa of all people in this country has gone to court to stop further airing of details of the sleaze. Had this happened under the previous government, Ablakwa would have been on rooftops crying foul.

Where is the morality crusade Ablakwa championed when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was in opposition? It was all hot air and intended just to facilitate regime-change.

Saint Ablakwa, as some now call him, out of derision has disappointed the youth who could have regarded him as a role model.

The so-called code of ethics President John Mahama launched and demanded that his appointees adhere to will be useless unless he cracks the whip on Ablakwa.

The foregone should follow the outcome of an independent audit by renowned auditors such as those who audited the Ablakwa-stalled National Cathedral project.

Is Ablakwa suffering the wrath of God having been instrumental in stalling the Cathedral project? He maligned the board of trustees in a manner which threatened the integrity of the noble personalities whose decades of dedicated service to God and country predates his birth. Time, it is said, will tell.

Mr. President, an auspicious opportunity has presented itself for you to prove your commitment to fighting graft and inappropriate conduct by public appointees. The country is standing by for your necessary action.
