Young activists of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Suhum Constituency of the Eastern Region, who were not on good terms during the 2016 campaign period, have organized a get-together to smoke the peace pipe.
The well-attended event dubbed, ‘Suhum Kenkey Party,’ was graced by the Paramount chief, Osabarima Ayeh Kofi and the Member of Parliament (MP), Frederick Opare-Ansah in the middle of the principal street of Suhum on Easter Sunday.
It was attended by most of the youth in the town and its environs.
The programme was initiated by the NPP Constituency Youth Organizer Obuoba Quadjo Omari with the aim of bringing together political parties activists to wine and dine.
Osabarima Ayeh Kofi, the chief of Suhum, who chaired the event, lauded the organizers for instituting the youth empowerment initiative to promote peace.
He further entreated them to shun hatred, selfishness, greed and criminal activities and be each other’s keeper.
During the 2016 general elections, some thugs suspected to be supporters of the former NDC candidate of the area went on rampage to terrorize residents of the town.
Some opinion leaders, who attended the historic event, commended the youth for promoting peace in the area.
