Suspect Abdul Manan with the exhibits
The Northern Regional Special Operations Team, known as Red Maria, embarked on a routine anti-drug peddling operation within the Tamale Metropolis aimed at clamping down on the activities of persons engaged in the sale and distribution of illicit drugs.
During the operation, the team, acting upon intelligence, proceeded to Zujung, a suburb of Tamale, where one Abdul Manan, 33, a suspected drug dealer operating from an over-the-counter chemical shop, was arrested.
According to the Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Alhassan Luckman Niendow, a search conducted in the suspect’s shop and residence resulted in the retrieval of thirty-two (32) boxes of 50mg Tramadol, one (1) box of 250mg Tramadol, one (1) sachet of 120mg Royal Tramadol, one (1) sachet of 100mg Tramadol, nine (9) boxes of 32mg Astradol-P and twenty-four (24) bottles of Koffex.
He disclosed that the exhibits have been handed over together with the suspect to the Regional Drug Law Enforcement Unit (RDLEU) for investigation and prosecution.
“The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are ongoing to establish the source of the drugs and possible accomplices connected to the illicit trade,” he revealed.
