Takoradi NPP Retains Chairman

Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Takoradi Constituency last Friday elected executives who will lead the party in the constituency for the next four years.

In all, 635 delegates voted for 24 candidates who stood for the 10 executive positions in the party.

At the end of polls, Mr. Prince Arthur, the incumbent Constituency Chairman, was retained. He polled 406 votes to beat his only contender, Daniel Osei, who had 207 votes.

Justice Maxwell Acquah, popularly called “Busty” polled 544 votes to beat Richard Magnu Ayeetey Ocran, who garnered 69 votes in Vice Chairmanship position.

Mr. Charles Kingsley Arthur won the Second Vice Chairmanship position. He had 321 to defeat two other contenders, Frederick Osei Bobbie and Albert Simons who had 243 and 48 respectively.

The Constituency Secretary position went to Mr. Emmanuel Kwabla Torkornoo, who polled 463 votes, while Madam Rosemond Osaebea Mends retained her position as the Women’s Organiser with 263 votes.

Mr. Jerry Atta-Fynn and Mr. Michael Kwame Owusu were elected Organiser and Youth Organiser respectively.

In the Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira Constituency, the incumbent Chairman, Nana Efatte Beyeman, was also retained, while Victor Dzorvakpo was elected First Vice Chairman.

In the Ahanta West Constituency, the incumbent Chairman, Anthony Nketsiah Kwofie, was retained. He had 506 votes to beat the only challenger, Kwesi Asuobenya Buah who had 392 votes.

In the Essikado-Ketan Constituency however, the incumbent Constituency Chairman was defeated.  Frederick Afful defeated the incumbent Chairman, Daniel Amihere. Afful had 335 votes and Amihere got 160 votes.

In the Amenfi East Constituency, Nana Kofi Amankwah was elected the Chairman, Francis Sowah, First Vice Chairman and Francis Maxwell Oppong, Second Vice Chairman.

The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, congratulated all the newly elected constituency executives, and urged them to work hard to ensure a resounding victory for the NPP come 2024.
