Abdallah Abubakari addressing the Muslim community
The Northern Regional Minister, Abdallah Abubakari, has indicated that preparations are ongoing to enable pilgrims to be flown directly from the Tamale airport to Jedda for this year’s Hajj.
The minister made this known during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration at the Jubilee Park in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital.
According to him, by this arrangement, Muslims in the three regions of the country may not have to come to Accra before they go to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj.
“You will bear with me that there have been massive infrastructural developments that have taken place nationwide and still ongoing, especially in the education, health and road sectors,” Abdallah Abubakari said.
The Northern Regional Minister told DAILY GUIDE that there had been challenges in the energy sector and the economy in general, “but there are clearly good signs ahead.”
He reminded all and sundry to be mindful of their utterances as the 2016 polls draw closer.
On accidents, he noted that they do occur on the roads day in and day out leading to loss of lives; and advised motor riders to wear crash helmets while drivers also make efforts to wear their seat belts.
Abdallah Abubakari advised the youth and the people of the north to collectively be advocates of peace and do their politicking without the use of offensive words.
