Tanzania president pushes for use of cryptocurrencies

President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan

The President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has called for the use of cryptocurrencies.

She has therefore tasked Tanzania’s Central Bank to prepare for the use of cryptocurrencies.

If that happens, it would make Tanzania the first African country to adopt cryptocurrencies as legal tender for trading.

She made the call shortly after El Salvador became the first country in the world to make Bitcoin an official currency.
