Some teachers have joined calls from concerned Ghanaians for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to select a woman as its running mate.

According to the teachers, given the critical roles that women play, the NPP should select a female to partner Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as part of the inclusive process.

Led by Kwadwo Fordjour and Irene Osei Wereko, the concerned teachers told the media in Kumasi on Friday that the time has come for the NPP to pick a female running mate whose character traits and work rate demonstrate both compassion and competence.

They said that their interactions with people reveal that a female running mate would immensely excite voters and accomplish wonders for the NPP.

The teachers, who support the NPP, stated that it was their responsibility to seek the best for the party.

They said the NPP will gain the most votes in this year’s election if they can pair an industrious female with Dr. Bawumia as running mate.

The teachers stated that, in addition to their managerial skills, women have the ability to maintain focus and a healthy balance between work and other responsibilities.

They want the NPP to also pick the woman running mate from the Ashanti Region to work with the party’s flagbearer for electoral victory in December.
