Techiman Omanhene Wins Council Of State Election

The Omanhene of Techiman Traditional Area, Oseadieyo Akumfi Ameyaw, was at the weekend elected as the new Bono East representative on the newly constituted Council of State.

The election was put on hold as a result of a court injunction following a petition filed by some aggrieved members of the Electoral College who were not satisfied with the constitution of the college.

At the end of the election, Oseadieyo Ameyaw sailed through securing 100% of the votes cast.

He beat his only contender, Adu-Buah Agyapong from Kintampo, who had no votes after eight other contestants withdrew from and race and threw their support behind the Techiman Omanhene.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE after the election, Oseadeyo Ameyaw thanked the Electoral College, particularly the candidates who stepped down for him, for the trust they had in him.

He said he would work hard to prove his merit and also work hard to uplift the image of Bono East and help the President in his own small way to make his tenure a successful one.
