Tema Mantse Hails Nana

Nii Adjei Kraku II
The Tema Mantse, Nii Adjei Kraku II and Tema Stool Secretary, Nii Amarh Somponu, have lauded the resourcefulness of President Akufo-Addo.

A statement copied to Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra said Nii Adjei Kraku II was happy with the readiness of the President to particularly execute abandoned projects.

Nii Adjei Kraku II praised the president for improving infrastructure in Tema by commissioning a section of the Tema Motorway that government rehabilitated.

“As the traditional head of the Harbour City, it’s not lost on me at all that I must be political, but the fact of the matter is that the development of the infrastructure of Tema is a blessing that I am very thankful for. Appreciation that is not expressed is no different from ingratitude and I am grateful,” Tema Mantse added.

President Akufo-Addo also visited the Tema regional branch of the Driver Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA) before returning to Bankuman in Tema New Town for a grand durbar.

The President was accompanied by the Minister for Roads, Kwasi Amoako Atta and others, who supported him to cut sod to asphalt roads in Tema New Town.

Later, President Akufo-Addo met the captains of industry at the head office of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) in Tema.

“This visit has obviously been very fruitful with the president cutting sod to initiate new projects, commissioning completed ones and granting audience to leaders of the business community in Tema. I want the president to know that we, the people of Tema, are very grateful,” Nii Adjei Kraku said.

Nii Amarh Somponu, the Secretary to the Tema Stool, also shared the sentiments of the harbour city King, saying President Akufo-Addo’s visit to the Harbour City was good news.

“Good news because the President came bearing developmental gifts; our share of the national cake. There obviously is more that we need in Tema, but Rome was not built in a day. All I can say is that the way the President started is promising and reassuring,” Nii Amarh Somponu, who is popularly known as Nii Shippi, added.

The president was hosted by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema East, Nii Kwartei Titus Glover and Chief Executive of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), Felix Mensah Nii Ananng-La.

The grand durbar at Tema New Town was attended by Assembly members and MMDCEs, among others.

The president addressed the gathering in Ga, saying all the infrastructural projects that were at various stages of completion were being carried out in fulfillment of his promise.

“This is evidence that I did not lie to you when I promised to do these things,” the President added.

Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, the Tema East MP, who doubles as Deputy Minister of Transport, expressed gratitude for the projects, saying Tema New Town has just one route and would need an extra one to ease traffic.

Mr. Titus Glover received a lot of praise from the Roads Minister, Amoako Atta, who revealed that the hardworking MP had been mounting pressure on him over the roads in Tema.
